Chennai Describing India as the voice of the ‘Global South’, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that the countries of the Global South trust India to take up their cause, their positions in the world. The EAM made this comment while addressing a program organized on foreign policy in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Speaking on ‘Foreign Policy the India Way: From Distrust to Confidence’, he highlighted how India has grown in importance across the world in the last 10 years. Addressing the session, EAM Jaishankar posted a video on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday night. In his address, he said, “What kind of preparations the country is making today for the next 25 years, this is the mentality with which we need to come before the world.”
Further, praising India’s prominence on the global stage, the EAM said that the world has great interest in reaching out to India, connecting with India and working with India. Recalling the G20 summit, he said that during our presidency many countries wanted to connect with India. He said that people had many doubts, but despite this, India was able to build consensus on various topics during the G20 Summit. People only see the final construction, but a lot of work goes on behind the scenes, he added.
EAM Jaishankar also mentioned that the Prime Minister’s ‘guarantee’ is global, highlighting PM Modi’s efforts to bring back Indian citizens during Covid, the conflict in Ukraine and Sudan. The recent efforts in Israel also were a part of the PM’s guarantee in ensuring the safety of its citizens.
