Samsung to Give Galaxy Tab A9 as Diwali Gift to Chennai Factory Workers

Samsung India on Tuesday announced that it will give Galaxy Tab A9 to Chennai factory workers on the occasion of Diwali this year.

“At Samsung India, we deeply care for our workers. As a token of appreciation, we have announced special Diwali gifts for Chennai factory workers. We already pay the best salary to our workers in the region. Besides, Chennai factory workers are also eligible for additional cash allowances and complimentary shuttle bus and meals. Our idea is to make the Chennai factory a great work place for all the employees,” said Mary Florence Yashini R, General Manager and Head of HR, Samsung Chennai Factory.

Workers at the Chennai factory are eligible for attendance incentives and night shift allowance, along with performance incentive, which could be 100% of their basic salary. In a new initiative, workers will also get interest-free loan of up to INR 3 lakh. Further, workers will get five days of leave for marriage and five days of paternity leave going forward.

Full time workers at the Chennai factory will also get health and accident insurance coverage. The Chennai factory has several facilities – a well-equipped gym, prayer hall, ergonomics centre, safety training centre, internet cafe – for the welfare of workers. Workers also have access to several grievance channels so that they can reach out for help. In case of death while in service, Chennai factory workers will get INR 100,000 to take care of their immediate needs.

The announcement of the Diwali gift comes days after Samsung signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the workers’ representatives on October 7, 2024. The Memorandum of Agreement aims to mitigate the difficulties faced by workmen and enhance the Company’s competitiveness.

Going forward, there will be continuous dialogue between the Samsung Chennai management and the workers’ representatives on employee-related welfare issues.

“My dear colleagues. This tough time will fade way. Comeback and let’s build brighter future at Samsung Chennai,” Mary Florence Yashini R said.
