Indian Missions Worldwide Join 18th PBD Festivities with Enthusiastic Celebrations

CHENNAI ,10th January, 2025– The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention extended far beyond its vibrant celebrations in Bhubaneswar, resonating globally as Indian Missions and Consulates around the world joined in to mark the festivities.

In Seychelles, the Indian High Commission organized a special screening of the PBD inauguration, while the Indian Embassy in Chile hosted a similar event to showcase the inaugural proceedings. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, delighted attendees with a vibrant cultural evening featuring ghazals and songs performed by renowned artist Mohammed Vakil. Meanwhile, in Norway, the Indian Embassy hosted an event at the JK Banquet Hall in Kjeller, where over 200 participants gathered to celebrate the remarkable contributions of the Indian diaspora.

The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations commenced on January 8 with the inauguration of the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Convention. This significant event was graced by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of Youth Affairs Shri Mansukh Mandviya, and Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi.

The festivities reached a grand peak on January 9 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. The event brought together distinguished individuals and delegations representing Indian communities from across the globe. Among the participants, Oman stood out with one of the largest delegations, comprising over 300 members of the Indian diaspora.

These global celebrations showcased the enduring bond between India and its diaspora, celebrating their achievements while creating a sense of unity. The event is set to conclude on January 10, with President Droupadi Murmu conferring the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to 27 individuals. Following the awards ceremony, the President will deliver her closing remarks, marking the culmination of this vibrant and meaningful series of events.
